Z14  Adorable Ideal 14" BETSY McCALL doll Toni P-90 1952-53
The Ideal Doll Co. made this 14", hard plastic doll in 1952-1953 using the Toni P-90 body and named her "Betsy McCall". On her neck are the markings "McCALL CORP." and on her back "IDEAL DOLL/P-90".
She comes dressed in what I think is her original red blouse, blue and white checked overalls, along with a stylish red jacket and reversible hat. As I laid these out for photos, I found that there were no buttons or snaps on the overalls or the blouse where one would expect them; so I've amended my opinion about it being an original outfit. Instead, it may be a homemade outfit from a talented seamstress.
Betsy has a soft vinyl head with beautiful working brown sleep eyes - bright and clear including nice lashes. Her dark, thick black hair is the original wig I think. It could use a new styling. The face paint and skin complexion are great.
The hard plastic, strung, P-90 body (also used for the Toni doll) is in excellent condition as you can see in the photos.
This doll is in very good condition, esp. for a 70 year old doll!
