This motor/chassis/gear set combination will take you a long way toward completing your next 60s retro/vintage 1/32 scale slot car build.  The Pittman DC196B motor was one of the few, perhaps the only, 60s mass-produced open-frame motor that incorporated a rear axle carrier narrow enough for most F1 and Indy car bodies to fit over it.  The problem with that, however, was finding a gear set that would fit into it.  The only really good solution I ever found was a set of Tradeship brass bevel gears.  When they are installed and lapped in properly they are ghost-silent and smooth as glass. The Auto Hobbies adjustable-wheelbase brass front chassis bolted onto the Pittman motor to make a complete motor/chassis assembly that could be made to fit under just about any 1'32 scale slot car body of the period.  So here you have an outstanding period-correct combination of basic components for a 1/32 scale vintage slot car to run on your home slot car track - motor, chassis, and gears.  The guide, BTW, is an 80s item included because not everybody has access to a period-correct guide to go with the other parts.  The motor, though new old stock and unused like the other components, has lost its lead wires somewhere over the decades.  This is very common with Pittman motors and is no great loss.  You will want to install the present-day silicone-insulated wire of your choice for reliability anyway.
