Price reduced due to repair discovered! Still beautiful vintage Hand Carved Mother and Baby Elephant with Rider Sculpture. This lovely artwork is hand carved from a solid piece of wood with a medium brown coloring and a satin finish. It depicts a mother elephant with her baby at her side while the mother is being ridden by what looks to be a boy or a young man. This finely detailed carving is accentuated with inlaid glass eyes on the mother and baby elephants as well as the rider and carved bone tusks. This is a large carving measuring approx 10 1/2" tall, 9 1/2" long and 4 1/4" deep.
* I had previously noticed the gap on front of elephant which I assumed was natural characteristic of this piece of wood. As I further examined him I found what could be a repair area on the back. See the last photos. If a repair it must have occurred at its creation and it a good one because I never noticed. And that is why you can buy this beautiful artwork at such an amazing low price!
